On our lease (6 guys 1000 acres) we all try to notify each other the night before if we will be hunting the next morning and which stands we will be hunting. And we notify each other by mid day at the latest when we are going to hunt an evening. So far we have been able to easily avoid each other and all get along despite many of the access trails going very near stand locations. This also helps us to hunt safely so no one gets shot and we all know which stand to go check if someone does not come home.

If you had some technologically-adept members you could really make things easy using the internet, even an iphone app as well.

We use text for most of the contact (except the one old guy who hasnt figured it out yet) and all of the stands are numbered and labled on google earth with updates sent as things change.

It's illegal everywhere in Louisiana. All lands are considered posted.

Actually it isn't! In E. Feliciana there is no law stating how far off a property line you can put up a stand and hunt. W. Feliciana it is 50 ft from property line.

Cool. You could also set up a message board similar to this one where people could post their locations for the day, in addition to other things. Free on Proboards.

The guy is 70 so I would ride it out. Not to many more years left in his tank.

Recently, there have been a couple of instances where I have been sitting in my stand only to have the gentleman ride through on his 4 wheeler at daybreak going to another stand on the property

This is not going to bother the deer. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes it will bother the deer.

Come on people think about it. I always walk to my stands but understand the need for some people to drive to theirs but if you do I would go real early and not after day break especially when other people could be hunting.

I can hear ATV's running from hunting lands all around me you can't tell me a mature buck doesn't hear this also and understand when he hears ATV sounds it is time to bed down. I know at my place (200 acres) that you can tell if my father in law or brother in law have been at the property recently by how many deer I see.

Also, at our place the deer do not like to be around cows. If the cows are in one field I go to the other because I do not see as many deer especially bucks. Now this could only be at my place but I doubt it.

I understand where you are coming from. I really don't think the deer will be bothered by the four wheeler unless preacherman nearly ran it over. I hunt on a small piece of land too. The biggest deer killed on the property was shot 250 yards from a duck blind that killed 24 birds in the morning. The buck walked out at 730, we finished duck hunting at 900.

+1

We walk to all our stands too.

This is how I think of it. The deer basically have it quiet for 9 months out of a year and then when hunting season starts there are ATVs running around everywhere . . . THEY KNOW WHEN THINGS CHANGE.

THis will end deer movement. 4 wheelers screw up more hunts then most people think. Probably the one thing you can do to instantly increase the amount of deer you see is to end ATV use on your hunting land.

Am I the only one that finds the fact that this arse hat is a preacher even more inappropriate. A fricking preacher that feels entitled just pisses me off like nothing else.

Make a copy of your property and have a tag in and out board. That way when you get to the woods, everyone can see where you are.

250 yards away would probably be off the 25 acre property that is being hunted.

I guess you may be right.

This is the property we hunt on. Red is property line, green is deer stands, pink is duck blind. Now we run on the crawfish pond levee year round everyday, so the deer are used to it. Maybe that's why they aren't spooked. The pond is 35 acres.

true but one factor that will mess up a big ole buck is the same factor that gets us into trouble.

Thought about doing this but there are 3 potential entrances to the lease so it really wont work. texting has proven the best method so far.
