Anyone ever have any problems with buying a display gun from Academy sports? If so why? I know I should do the usual inspections but just seems that people shy away from buying the display. Thanks

Simple answer is don't buy from Academy, spend the extra money at a local gun shop that wont sell you out when political pressure gets heavy like Academy just did after Orlando.

I bought a shot gun on display a few years ago. Would't drop the price even a penny. still bought it. Perfect mechanically and cosmetically.

I bought a display Calcutta off the reel bar guy said they would take 10percent off at the front with the box that said display. When I told them in the front it had a scratch they took another 10 percent off.

I was on a hunting trip during the Orlando shooting. What exactly did Academy do?

Made it policy to remove all "assault rifles" from display cases and kept them in the back. Still selling them just no longer displaying them.

I just bought a $1600 display rifle from F&S. Sure, people may have handled it but as. Long as it wiped clean and functioned well, I had no problem.

Word on the street is that Monday after the shooting Academy and Sports South went and bought up as many ARs as they could direct from the manufacturers. Most big box stores and large dealers have to team up with other big box stores to do direct purchases because of the minimums to give you an idea of how big that order would have to be. Begs the question if they were trying to induce panic with a long bet on ARs. That's like 3rd hand info though so could be total BS. But I did hear it before Academy announced they were pulling MSRs.

You seem to be too immature to have an understanding of the topic, so let me quote what Daniel Defense president stated after cutting ties with Academy.

quote:

"Academy’s decision clearly segregates firearms by their appearance, which sends a dangerous message to our politicians that it’s acceptable to do so. We as an industry must stand and fight, together."
