I have a 2016 F250 that flashed this on my way to work this morning and puts me in limp mode in 50 miles. Any idea what this could be caused from? DEF heater was replaced 2 years ago.

Sorry but could literally be anything
Sensor
Bad turbo seal
Bad or broken air line
Something in DEF system
Something with NOX treatment system

Got a 16 duramax and went in to limp mode yesterday. It was exhaust gas temperature sensor. Damn $60 sensor shut me down. Only took about 20 minutes to fix once I got the part.

Bad def could be the problem. Our local dealer received a bulk tote that would make equipment throw codes. They had to buy a meter that would check the quality of the def. Ended uo changing suppliers after several totes failed the test. We also had a jug that wasn’t sealed good and whatever is in the def that the sensors scan for to make sure you are actually putting def in there evaporated out so the computer thought it was not really def. Drained the tank and put in fresh def and it worked fine.

Next time you crank it it’s going to tell you that your speed is limited to 50mph but it won’t actually do that. The following time you crank it your speed will for real be limited to 50mph. Delete that shite and move on. Thats what I did.

Thats what I did KR, its at the shop now, just always been a little weary of anything past factory settings. And by the way… when are you starting another C&D thread?

Like LSU said it could be anything from a Regen to bad def. Until it is hooked up to a computer you really do not know.

Just retired from the heavy duty side Freightshakers, Mack’s, Volvo, Kw, Pete’s, Hino’s, and Intertrashionals. 80% of our calls was the after-treatment system.

This system is beyond faulty and it could be anything or nothing at all. Can you try clearing/erasing the code? See if it does it again. Possible that heater went out again but not likely.
