No public land in West Feliciana worth the time. Cat Island is swamp. a few pigs and even less deer. Archery only, no permanent stand. Not worth the time or effort.

Tunica terrain is so rough you might as well backpack the Rockies in Colorado. At least you have good scenery there and dont have toothless rednecks breaking into your truck when you are hunting. West Feliciana is full of crime. No camp or property is safe. Hunters behind every other tree and most are criminals.

Fully agree, and Wilkinson county is about the same, Once you get into Adams county things get a lot better, but only land available is for sale at a premium

Posted by Message MillerMan Deer Hunting Around St. Francisville What happened to your place in Texas? I would be willing to bet the hunting is better there than majority of St Francisville.

Nothing. I just wanted something just a little closer. 9 hrs is a haul to go for a short trip. I'll still spend 25 to 30 days at the ranch this year hunting but it will be weekends+vacation for 3 to 5 day trips. I want that place I can run out to on a Friday and just spend some time in the woods. I don't even need to kill anything unless it's a nice buck. I can fill 5 people's tags in a day at the ranch, so deer meat is no problem. This property will be my secondary hunting spot.

That's still a pretty good chunk of time, but 9 hrs is a haul for sure

Still would be nice to have a closer place, I'm in the market for something in Texas but that doesn't mean I'm giving up my places here.

Oh damn! KR and I are going down March 27th and I'll go back in July and Septemeber. After that my last 4 trips will be from November 5th through Jan. 5th. March and July are hogs and varmints, Septemeber doves and the rest deer.

Everything around us is so saturated with energy production, nobody is leasing anymore. You gotta go south of Freer to find anything decent for lease.

I've seen a few come up near Uvalde, don't know if you consider that West or South.

I'm also looking at leasing something in Missouri, but the rifle season is only about 20 days there.
