Yes it’s really not that hard I wear a hat every day except the office so wearing a different color is no big deal. If I go somewhere and a vest is required I have a very comfortable orange fleece vest with pockets and it goes over the top of my coat or it’s my top layer.
If I hunted public wmas I would wear orange jumpsuit

You have enough faith in your fellow man to assume no hunter will ever trespass?

I only hunt my own land . . . I wear a full orange vest anytime I am outside during hunting season. To the stand, from the stand, scouting, putting out corn, feeding the fish, riding my 4wheeler. It's not worth the chance.

As for the 4 wheeler part, Alxtgr has a good story about someone riding one getting shot.

Wear your orange.

I hunt on land that my wife and I own and live on. My son, daughter, wife snd I are the only ones who hunt here. We all wear orange when hunting and always will . Heck, I’m 200 yards from my house now and I have it on. There is no excuse for mistaking a person for a deer.

I wear orange if I'm traveling a decent amount on foot (100yards or more), or in an area I think there may be another human...whether family, friends, or stranger.

I will always wear at least an orange hat and i will always wear a safety harness when climbing a tree.

I have forgotten one or the other multiple times, if it’s my orange, i go back to camp and get it. If it’s my harness i either go back and get it or hunt from the ground or switch to my box blind.

I’ve had people laugh at me, but I’ve had plenty of close calls falling from a tree. I’m no good to my family dead or crippled, so i do my best to mitigate those chances.

even the ratio is very disproportionate towards private land. but the real equalizer is most accidental shootings occur on either sex days(which are as gun season is dramatically shorter on public land) Of the last 10 fatal shootings in LA 3 of the victims were mistaken for hogs not deer and alcohol / drugs were involved in at least 2 cases.

Yes, always. I actually scolded my brother today because he doesn’t wear it on our private land, but will hunt the line like a motherfricker.

Basically told him it seemed like a shitty way to leave me to care for his kids.

I hunt public still on occasion and the #1 reason I wear orange is so that the other hunters see me in the stand from as far away as possible and steer clear hopefully. Doesn’t always happen, but it’s a hell of a lot easier to see a guy in orange on the stand that one without it.

I’ve seen and killed plenty of deer with orange on. The biggest thing with deer is not to move. That’s why I hate those cheap orange vests because they flap around in the wind. A good orange vest especially one with some break up and deer will never see you. Turkeys….well you are fricked but that’s a different story if you want to just watch them for something to do.

I wear orange to my stand, take it off, put back on when I leave my stand but I don’t understand I have a scope and I always verify my target before pulling the trigger.

Unless you’re trigger happy, shooting into moving foliage, it’s to dark to tell, or don’t have a clear shot why pull the trigger.

I actually hunt in woods on my property where we live so it is simply walking out my back door and choosing which of my 7 stands to hunt on a given day. No neighbors to worry about as far as shooting but there are woods that back up to our place.

That being said, I wear orange during rifle season for sure. Usually my jacket and/or vest is hunter orange as well as my hat/balaclava and gloves. Doesn’t affect my hunting ability and safe is better than sorry.

Lots of Dumb asses out there. Some of the local hunters I’ve meet have been less than impressive. Lots n lots of ya-hoos out there. I dont deer hunt. Whenever I leave my barn I have an orange hat and an orange coat or shirt. Even if Im driving my Kubota or red jeep.

Hell, I wear orange when squirrel hunting (with a dog) and rabbit hunting. Too late in my life to end up a hunting casualty statistic.
