I mentioned in the earlier IST that this past weekend I witnessed an amazing dog work.

One of the boys (11yr old) shot a spike this past weekend and hit it a little back, so he needed to some help. Scout is a 9 yr old Blue Lacy that is simply incredible. It took her about 45 seconds after her collar was on to pick up the trail. She chased the spike for about 600 yards before pushing him into a pond, once he was in the pond she drowned him, finishing him quickly. We were able to catch up to her as she was following the spike into the pond and witnessed the kill. The video starts post kill. The commentary is from my friend telling his son he just may need to go swimming to get the deer.

This was the 1st time Scout retrieved a deer like this, she has a few other confirmed kills and countless finds that a few of which had to be finished off with a gun.

I love watching her work. She found my deer 2 years ago LINK when I put a decent shot on him, but had no blood trail and little to work with on where he went into the brush. He had only gone about 35 yards, but was in a thicket that I couldn't see into and didn't have a blood trail leading to it. I have no doubt that I would have completely lost him if it weren't for her.

TLD: Here's cool video of a dog retrieving a deer.

Had some good footage of him trailing and catching a couple Axis after your video. Good dog.

I knew it was a Blue Lacy by reading the title. Very cool dogs.

She's a beast. They had a few barn cats, had. This weekend she went toe to toe with a 1200lb beefmaster heifer and didn't think twice. It took the owner getting in her face to settle her down.

Was that Axis already wounded? What area is that?

A taxidermist I used once had a BL which was used for retrieves on predator hunts. Those dogs are no joke.

BL are great dogs.

Ive got a lab that wants to be a BL.
She points pheasants, retrieves them and ducks.
She will change gears and shed hunt.
Then she will blood trail.

Hell of a dog.

Yeah, he was mortally wounded just helped him along. He has a video that YouTube removed of her having a pretty good whitetail buck bayed up that was gut shot and him trying to get a shot on it but the dog is like 2 years old, so she’s all over the place and it takes a good while to get a clear shot. I want to say it’s like 10 minutes long or close to it.
