Deep water crab nets....

Anybody have luck with them? How often should they be checked once set?

Depends on how well the crabs are biting. There have been times I've crabbed the grand isle surf with 20 nets and as soon as I would get done with running the string and putting those in a hamper, I'd run them again.

Constantly if you are running a dozen or more.

If you running drip nets, 10-15 minutes depending on how the crabs are biting.
