Usually fish with 6 people so about $675 per man.

It’s such a crap shoot. I’ve never actually caught a tuna on a charter. I know many people get lucky and hit a great day. But the most I’ve seen boated on a charter is 2. So 2 guys got to catch a fish and the rest of us paid to be cheerleaders. This was back in the late 1990s when Peace was still running Glacier Bays. We even struck out on a Lump trip with one of Peace’s guides.

Southern Pride Charters out of Wakeside in Grand Isle is going to be running some "Walk-on" trips again. They have a couple 12 hour Bottom Trips scheduled, about $200-250 per person. They also have 3-36 hour tuna trips and 2-36 hour bottom trips scheduled for $650 per person. It's a fun time, my son and I are will probably do a 36 hour btm trip. He has 14 new electric reels if you just wanna load the boat, or if you want to fight them you can do that too.

I messaged them a couple days ago and this is what they sent me.

Hey ?????. I’m sorry I’m just seeing your message.
These are the dates of our 36 hour trips:

June 6/7 - Tuna Fishing
June 20/21- Bottom Fishing
July 10/11- Tuna Fishing
July 19/20- Bottom Fishing
August 6/7 - Tuna Fishing

For the walk on bottom 10-12 hour trips, I only have 2 scheduled for now. We will plan a few more later. I usually fill them in where we don’t book private charters.
Thursday, June 8
Monday, June 19

They will put 30 people on the boat for day trips, for the 36 hour trips they only take about half that.

Do any of you guys realize the price of owning an offshore boat ???? Lol my broke azz can barely afford to maintain my single 300 zuke lol. If you go once a year not having to maintain a boat with most likely trips or quads run to where guides been catching fish previousl trying different techniques. Tuna fishing can be big time hit or miss. As long as they put in a serious effort which the guides mentioned above will (Eddie Burger,Scott King)you should have a great trip ! Just sit back and relax

Shhhhiiii. I feel you on that, my butthole puckers everytime I pull my 300 yami to the pump. I'm lucky to be able to afford to go fishing 2 days a month.

Yup. Hell, even just 1 year of insurance is more than a charter trip would be.

Proves my life philosophy that if it flies, floats, or fricks, rent it.

Eh…if you can afford it and fish often enough, they’re worth owning IMO.

CP3 correct! And I do on my boat as well. But whining about charter prices, when most guides down their are running 250k-1million plus center consoles. 2500 plus fuel is just a drop in the bucket split between 6 people lol..But yes I will never not own an offshore boat! But they are alot of work to maintain especially with trips and quads whewww.. Im good.

I agree with all of what you said lol. Yeah people get sticker shock, but honestly the pricing for a charter trip is pretty fair considering the expenses and long hours that go into running a charter.

Tell me about it lol. Feel like every time I fix something it’s another $3k down a hole
