Crappy weather fishing stories

I'm bored and figured we could tell fishing related stories: either funny, interesting, scary, etc. I'll start:
I was crabbing with a buddy at seabrook in Lake P and a nasty storm was coming in from the NW. I told my buddy, lets run them one more time and pick them up. Well as we started picking them up, a wave busted over the transom putting a lot of water in the boat. Well before I could get my flat boat on plane, another waved came over the side. I told my buddy, grab the ice chest of beer and I'll grab the ice chest of crabs. The boat was totally submerged, luckily it had floatation. We were only 1,000 yards from the launch and some guys in a boat headed in stopped to help us. They threw us a rope and my buddy held on. Somehow he was able to hold on long enough for the bow to come out the water and got us on plane. We made it in safely and took 20 min to get the water out. Offered the guys all our beer, but they thanked us and said we are alright and went on their way. We saved all the crabs! Another boat picked up my gas tank that was floating down the seawall. Glad to know there are still some good people out there!

We were fishing in the marsh below Delacroix a long time ago. A very nasty storm blows up due east of us 5 miles or more away. I tell the other two guys "everybody over there is screwed but fortunately storms never go east to west". And we kept fishing and were catching trout like crazy. You can guess the rest except the part about wrapping the prop around a crab trap because the rain was coming down so hard we couldn't see. And taking off all metal objects and lying flat on an island because lightning was hitting all around us.

this morning I launched at the rigolets marina in slidell. Made my way to the hwy 11 train trestle in lake ponchatrain. weather got real bad real quick. I rode my boat to the highway 11 launch becsuse there was sbout 4-6 ft chop in the lake and caught a ride with some guys that were fishing off the bank. Did manage to catch 14 specks.

Not crappy weather, but definitely crappy. My dad, grandpa, and I were going to fish a farm pond. There was a cattle gate that had to be opened, so I opened the gate let the truck through, then climbed into bed of truck after shutting gate. While riding up to the pond, my dad started yelling and gagging at the same time. My grandpa had crapped in his pants. Instead of taking the short ride back to house, he wanted to fish. He stripped down and put on an old pair of coveralls that my dad kept behind seat of truck. Dad then had horse bite him on shoulder. Caught a nice stringer of sacalait that day. Will never forget that trip.

Used Weather Routers back in the early 2000's and crossed the Gulf. 17' waves 200 miles offshore, in a 60' boat. Fire, thrown cutlass bearing (due to pounding) and lots of other fun stuff to deal with. Well worth it.

Launched into east side of Bay St louis in a 17 ft aluminum boat. After not catching anything we cross to west side of bay.
Storm rolls in from west.
By time we made it back we had 6 inches of water in boat and steady taking it over the starbord side. I had to ride a wave to get the boat on top of the trailer.

We took my 19' bay boat out Friday to Delacroix in the wind. There was only one way I could make it across this one cut, which was straight on to the waves. They were spaced out just right that the boat was taking a serious pounding. Everyone on the boat caught a serious wet arse.
We get to the first stop and don't catch anything, troll to the next place and don't catch anything. Go to turn the motor on to make the next stop and nothing. I mean not a friggin' thing. Got under the console, nothing. Changed the battery to one of the trolling motor batteries, nothing. We ended up hand starting the motor and going home.
30 seconds under the console on dry land and I found a wire that came disconnected from the throttle. I guess it was the neutral safety switch. I swear I looked at every wire when we were out in the water.
