Couple of questions in regards to stainless tumbling media

I've read that you can just leave the media (water included) in the tumbler, but how often do you change it? Also, I primarily use mine to clean my rimfire suppressor baffles, which I imagine leaves quite a bit of lead in the water. Any pointers on how to dispose of this? Preciate any tips
