My son runs the retail side of a gun range here in Houston and texted me this note that is on a new gun being picked up tomorrow by a very special client. I thought the ODB would enjoy:

It is a rifle and a nice one but I shouldn't say more. I would be thrilled to own that weapon.

No chance at all. The other fairly regular customer my son has is a certain running back who got in trouble for spanking his son with a switch from a tree.

Hey Mid not going to stalk your boys shop or anything lol , but if you wouldn't mind giving the name, I am always willing to spend my money with people I may know even if it's through a message board.

And I am always looking for places to shoot here in town

Not a great idea to post people's business on the Internet. I'd be pretty pissed if I hopped on tiger droppings and saw my gun purchases were being advertised and would probably ask the business who is responsible.

Yeah, a SEAL who wrote a book and starred in the movie of said book is going to be worried about someone posting a pic of a sticky note on his rifle purchase.

Employee posting information about customer on the internet is bush league and unprofessional.

He could come post it here himself if he wanted to.

The difference here is he authorized those two things. There's a whole lot more information in that picture than just someone is buying a gun. I'm not going to spell it out for you.

To the OP: I doubt your son is trying to do anything wrong, just excited and wanted to share with someone. I'm just trying to offer a perspective on privacy, especially as it regards business and security. Say someone wanted to do him harm. It wouldn't be a stretch to say this makes Lutrell potentially vulnerable. Maybe he doesn't care and posts his daily itenerary on the Internet but I'd leave that up to him.
