I got a 2012 Sierra with the 6 speed. Thinking about getting a 6" lift and 35's. What kind of problems could that cause? What can I expect? I know it'll throw off the speedo and lower my MPG. Handling? Shifting? Etc. Educate me!

It's going to cause the front end to wear out twice as fast, more money spent on tires, worse fuel mileage, limits your market on resale and a worse ride but other than that you should be ok.

If you want it to look good and not be quite as rough on the front end, just get a level with 33s. It'll look aggressive without being insanely expensive and hard on the suspension.

And for God's sake, adjust your headlights after the lift so you're not blinding people. Big pet peeve of mine...

You then have to buy bedazzled jeans, white oakleys and where your hat backwards. If you are cool with that then no issues.

You should re-gear the truck. It'll be a miserable turd to drive and the engine/transmission will last about half as long otherwise.

If you buy a top-shelf lift and have it professionally installed, you won't be wearing stuff out drastically faster than stock, but you're still going to go through more ball joints and steering parts. Just don't try to cheap out. It'll cost you more in the long run.

Figure out whatever you think it'll cost and multiply that by 1.25 to get what it'll really end up costing by the time you're done with it.

I had a 6" super lift bracket-style on my old truck and loved it. It had about 160k miles on the lift and was holding up fine. I wouldn't hesitate to get another superlift kit and there's a chance my 3/4 ton will have one before too long. With an IFS truck you don't really gain a whole hell of a lot from a lift other than fitting bigger tires, but I just liked driving it.

Just make sure you get the 24" rims that stick out past your fenders at least 6" with low profile mud tires forced out to the rim width. Only way to go.

Eta: bedazzled jeans only work with a set of bedazzled truck nuts, and a yeti sticker.

only put the front end lift on. That's the cool thing now. And rims that are 30"x30".

Oh, and 25 light bars.

Just level it and put 33's on it. That's all you need.

Your truck, your wallet, your family and your girlfriend, if you have one, will thank me and all those who have suggested a level.

Also, once you level as we have all suggested, don't put the biggest tires that will fit. 1. It looks stupid 2. You lose lots of wheel travel ("flex")

I don't have a problem with lifted trucks for practical reasons. You know, better ground clearance for off-roading. Unfortunately most of the lifted trucks I see look like they just came off the showroom floor. Probably have never, and will never, see mud.
