I have been told, Household of Faith Church, 10469 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA 70737 is a launch/ stagging point for rescue.

People without boats can go to volunteer.

I have a boat ready to roll as well, but I haven't seen anybody requesting help from civilians. Hoping the advance notice allowed the majority of people in AP to heed the warnings and get out before the rise.

If you have a boat, go out there. Buddy went yesterday and only planned on rescueing his family. He ended up staying out there and rescuing 3 other families and two horses.

I was 99% sure that's what I saw, but wanted to be 100%, according to their Facebook page that is exactly what they are doing there.

WLF/LEO were escorting boats down Hwy 431 towards St Amant High. There looked to be no shortage of boats but I'm sure no one would turn down fresh bodies.

Water is still slowly rising.

I just spoke with the Ascension Parish FD, and they said for volunteers to show up at the station in Sorrento. That was for people without a boat

it is in fact I am there now. The OEP command center is there but there are so many officers that they are not using as much volunteer rescuers. Some have left to go find action. Not as many rescues on this side as people had some warning and experience, it's what I've heard. I'm not saying don't come, but a lot of guys are doing a lot of waiting.

Sat there for almost 2 hours waiting finally decided to leave after half of the people with boats left out of frustration. They wanted to put an officer in each boat. Poorly organized group over there.

Not much notice to organize when you have a hundred boats all show up at once. I think it is awesome that this many people showed up but letting everyone that has a boat run through the streets of Denham Springs probably isn't the safest game plan either - take an officer with you.

Well just left my name in the hat..I don't have a boat but I do have a 12 passenger van..they took my name and number and said it's slow right now but will pick up at dark..they want to put a sheriff in the van with me which is fine with me..a few people already waiting with boats with their arms crossed..

well if their defense if homes started getting looted (which they have in BR and Baker) people would be flipping a shite over the lack of officers in the area
