Company Car

Since there seem to be older wiser people on this board and I only post here, I have a question.
My job gives me a company car every 60k miles. I have a choice of a Taurus or Impala, both similary equipped with V-6 engines. I'm on my 3rd Taurus with one being a complete POS, present one isn't bad. The Impala has been completely redsigned and the Taurus has only minor cosmetic changes. Anyone have any experience with the Impala or Chevy cars, not trucks. Ive only driven Ford cars for work and they've been fairly reliable but I'm getting bored with the body style. I want something reliable. So boring and reliable would be better than new and not.

Money Board = older wiser
What is the year model of Taurus you have now? Do you get to pick the vehicle? Most companies just purchase the fleet base model of a vehicle. You say both similarly equipped with V6, but only the Taurus is V6 base.
Why are you concerned with reliability if you are only keeping it 60k miles?

Both are 2015's. I have a 2013 Taurus SEL now.
Ford Taurus SEL and the Impala 2LT.
I've had numerous cars that were POS before 60k miles. I don't have time to run back and forth for minor warranty type fixes.

Flip a coin on the Impala and Taurus
What about a Ford Fusion, if you can get one of thoes I'd go that route.

Impala and Taurus are the smallest they offer. I can go better packages, a SUV or truck if I want. They start payroll deducting for upgrades. I have a 4x4 Tundra for hunting and fishing so I basically need an everyday car for hauling industrial electrical samples and people to lunch.

I'd go with the impala just to change things up. I'm not a mind reader so I can't tell you which one will be a lemon but both were designed to last at least 60k. Hell, maybe 70k miles.

I had an Impala for a rental a few weeks back and liked it. It had the v6. Plenty of get up and go and very comfortable, lots of room. Just be glad you get to pick something with room in it. My company switched to Mazda 3's to save gas, so needles to say I opted out of the company car. We get the option of the car or car allowance and mileage.

" what's the difference between a four wheel drive truck and your company car?"

Fairly certain my car won't tow my boat or get me trough a 1/2 mile of sloppy mud road to my deer camp. Also, my tuck is a tax write off for my side business. So, actually a big difference!

It was more of a joke on how one can abuse the company car.

I try not to abuse them as my boss lets me use it as I want. Basically have "0" personal miles each month and he wants a clean car when customers are around. To me its a significant perk and a happy boss is a good boss.

That being said, I'd probably go with the Impala. I believe its larger. I also hate Ford MyTouch... it's the single reason my wife doesn't drive a Ford.
The good thing with these two is that you can go to Enterprise and rent both for a week.

I know a couple of folks who have impalas as personal cars and they seem to like them....haven't heard of either of them having issues...
As far as comfort and quality, I would rate the two as perfectly equal. If you are tired of the tarus, try out the impala for a roung....

I drove an Impala 4000 miles from the east coast to the west coast through mountains and what not and was very impressed with the power, ergonomics, and comfort. Very comfortable for a 6'-2" lanky frame.
