Anyone have suggestions for gloves and socks?

Gloves are probably too individualized to give a good general recommendation. You're probably on your own through trial and error.

Merino wool for the socks is a safe bet, though.

But dryfit items on amazon. 50 bucks worth of dryfit under jeans, a t-shirt, and quarter zip drake and a hunting coat and I was goos to -15 in Wyoming. Had ice in my beard.

Are they getting cold because of poor circulation or are they sweating and getting cold via evaporation of the sweat?

No problem, I'm in the same boat! Started off with a Rise Jacket and Ascent pair of pants. Turned into bibs, base layers, Ascent backpack..even the Blacktail jacket. Seems to be pretty nice stuff from what I've gotten so far.

Cold hands and feet are a common complaint among smokers, the detrimental effects of smoking often show up as poor circulation in hands and feet.

Diabetics too.

Mine is bad because I've had mild frostbite enough times I've destroyed some of the capillaries in my hands/feet.

all of this A+

Most any lightweight thin poly-type insulation* in layers. If hiking your going to be shedding one real fast. It's surprising. Been hiking, climbing, and paddling whitewater for over 100 days a year since 1980. Leave anything cotton for when you get back.

*eta: including lightweight Merino wool; although only if you find cheap; IME it's not necessarily better, nor really more comfortable, and does not dry as fast.

Polypropylene is just as good, and not nearly as expensive. So if it's a once off activity, a wicking synthetic fiber like polypro might just do the trick.

Might be able to find some cheap drmo polypro on eBay.

It’s comparable to first lite mine didn’t have the thumb holes but they may offer that. Good quality wool, doesn’t stink after wearing it for a whole week hunting, doesn’t itch and seems to wick away pretty well. I got the heavy weight top and bottom layer for around $115 total.

I Went to Canada a few weeks ago and the one time I wore a synthetic baselayer rather than merino wool I was cold,

I have found wearing a buff that I can pull around my ears and nose if need be helps trap extra heat from the neck area.

I like darn tough Vermont wool socks, make sure your socks are not too tight

Powder or apply spray antiperspirant to your feet. I always just used a little baby powder.
