Kenai is the exception.

this is where I will be

In the inlet or Peninsula?

I's suggest when you get to Anchorage going to 6th Ave. Outfitters or the Army Navy Store on 4th avenue. There's also a Sportsmans Warehouse in Soldotna a few miles from Kenai. Tell them what you are doing, they'll point you in the right direction. I'd definitely get Merino Wool base layers though, it's good stuff.

Sportsmans Warehouse in Soldotna will be able to help you. There's a bunch of places in Anchorage that can help but Army-Navy and 6Th Ave probably have more personal experience and can give you good advice. Both are downtown. There is an REI store in ANC but from what I remember they didn't have much of a selection of good work clothes.

I'd imagine a lot of the guys working around Kenai use Sportsmans Warehouse, they probably can help outfit you for that area. Weird climate on that side of the Peninsula, it's a bit colder there than on the Seward side.

Buy some Merino Wool. Minus33 makes good stuff.

It's not that bad. It's actually amazing how fast you can get used to temps from 10 above to 10 below....serious.

Really is. If you get cold in that range, you're wearing the wrong gear or the winds blowing like hell. Get the right gear and you'll be comfortable.

Kenai doesn't get below zero often
