if you dont have Under Armour's 4.0's, you need them ASAP, by for the best base layer gear i've ever had, need only the 4.0's walking in regardless of temps. Once at tree/location, then a jacket and pants(2 layers, you'll never be cold)

then you have never had merino wool. Get some firstlite and come back. That UA stuff will stank when you sweat.

How cold/windy was it when you used it?

Planning to try and catch some good quality thermal gear on sale at the end of the season to use for next year. Spent too many days this season with 3-4 layers on and barely able to move

After having merino wool socks for the first time in my life this year, I will definitely have some merino drawers next season.

UA gets my vote, but never tries Sitka. Have the 4.0 base layer and a Coldgear Infrared pull over. If it drops below 40, then a thin wool sweater goes between the two. Anything more than that, I'm sweating. I know it also has to do with how hot/cold natured people are.

Merino wool socks + Lacrosse Alpha Burly Pro boots = warm toes.

As a person who lives and hunts in northern Minnesota, I can affirm that no one up here hunts in sitka or under armour.

I am sure that those companies make fine products, but the key to staying warm is layering. you dont need expensive gear to stay warm, even in the coldest of conditions.

First Lite blows UA stuff out of the water and it really isn't even close. Merino base layers are by far the way to go when it comes to being warm, not stinking, and weight to warmth ratio. First Lite baselayers are the way to go.

Damn I knew there weren’t many people that live in Minnesota but it’s pretty crazy that you know every one of them.

Ditto. I'm sure the expensive gear is fine but it's not necessary.

Dang, all these years I've been using a wool blend duofold underneath a chamois shirt with gortex/thinsulate overalls and jacket. I guess I've been doing it wrong but I've never been cold either.

Men don’t need super expensive clothing. That’s for women.
