A cup of Clorox in a bath. Soak for about 15 min. and they will be gone.

That sucks. Worst itch ever. The only thing that works for me is chigger x. You have to apply it every hour or so.

Just what I've done for 40 yrs., and I've had a lot of redbugs on me.
Of course they don't quit itching instantly, but it gets rid of them so the healing can start.

Chiggers are actually a juvenile trombiculidae, and contrary to popular belief, do not burrow into the skin. The itch is from a feeding tube that is created by an enzyme they inject. They feed on the rotting tissue, this is called stylostome. The old clorox in the bathtub thing is sort of an old wives tale. Suffocating or otherwise killing the chigger by way of bleach, nail polish, or whatever else is just a myth. The reason a the clorox in the bath one comes up so often is because a cool bath does reduce the inflammation caused by the stylostome. Reduced inflammation = reduced itching.

Oral antihistamines, Calamine lotion and corticosteroid creams will help with the itching.

Yeah by the time the itching has started the chiggers are long gone. The itch comes from your skin healing.

In the future, you may want to avoid the areas the chiggers usually live. I learned many years ago, the dry overgrown ditch banks and road sides next to the woods are usually where I get them. In the actual woods - not so much. Since then, I am careful around these areas, dont stand around in those areas, etc, and have avoided chiggers for years, still get a few ticks now and then, but they are going to be almost anywhere.

Pine Sol will also work.

5 parts bleach, 1 part water. Scratch the shite out of them. If it breaks the skin that works. I actually recommend doing that. Use a cotton ball to apply it. Go to Wal-Mart or any drug store and get a product called Chig-a-rid. After the bleach dries put it on.

I got ate up with chiggers recently and what relieved the itching the best for me was either a dip or rinse of the area with water as hot as I could stand. Usually after a hot dip/rinse the itchiness would disappear for several hours. That and swimming. I've read the nail polish thing works because eliminating air exposure from the itching area keeps the area from itching. That's why taking a dip in water relieves the itching

I concur with his recommendation. I also use it for bad cases of poison ivy.
