Changing A/C Unit on Camper

I think my AC unit on my camper is going out.
Anyone had this done recently and could give me a starting number before I start calling around?
Are dealers service departments as pricey as car dealer service departments?
Should I look at local camper service places vs. a dealer?
Is this something I could do myself? (I'm fairly mechanically inclined)

You can probably do it yourself. I believe it's 4-6 screws that hold it to the roof, and you'll have some electrical connections to deal with.
There is also a gasket between the unit and the roof. Not sure if the new unit will come with that or not.
Where are you located? If in Houma I have a buddy that does this type work at his shop.

It'll likely depend on the size of the AC unit, I just replaced an AC on a 24' enclosed trailer and it was $1300 installed.

Did mine myself, as others said it was 4 bolts, electrical was a direct plug in so no wiring. Hardest part was getting it up on the roof. It came with the gasket pre-installed. unit was around $700

A friend of mine had put a mini split on his old RV and he said it made the overhead unit its bitch. Just something to consider...

Find someone to help you or a tall enough shop to throw a rope over on it to get it on the roof.
Buddy of mine backed his truck next to the camper and stood on the side and put on top. Then climbed up and installed.
Old one he lowered down the ladder into the back of his truck so as to not damage the side of the camper.
He cut a piece of plywood that sat down in the middle of the ladder and used it as a slide.

fairly straight forward job, there are 4 phillips head screws the hold on the cover, remove those and take it down
Under the cover you will see the controls with 2 molex plugs, just unplug those and drop the controls
The next part is a lot easier with a drill but there's (4) 5/16 or 4/20 bolts that hold the AC to the trailer with a bracket
remove the bolts and then you can then move the AC
Now getting it down is the fun part

After reading the responses I think I'm going to give it a shot myself.
My camper sits under an awning made with trusses so I should be able to rig up with one of our come-alongs from work and lower it down fairly easily.

Where did he mount the condensing unit? Where did he run the condensate line?

I believe he mounted the unit under the back near the axle and was able to keep it upright. If you're curious I can message him for some pics and shoot you an email.

Yes please. I have a ductless split I'm pulling out of a shed and my cousin has a camper in need of air. Don't have to email just post pics here. I'm sure somebody else might be interested as well.

Contacted him and will message back when I get some information.
EDIT: Well he didn't have any pictures but said he used angle iron to make a trapeze off the frame behind the rear axle. He said the top was touching the floor insulation but that there was plenty of clearance and it didn't affect ground clearance.
