UPDATE: Chandeleur Charters - Review and Pictures

Anyone have any experience with this company? I'm curious of how it works. I see there is one captain who takes you out on a 65' mothership and there are 6 ea. 14' skiffs loaded on top. You stay out for a couple nights and fish from the skiffs. I see you have to bring your own rods/reels/tackle, do you actually drive the 14' skiffs yourself? Or do they send someone in each skiff with you? I'm a little confused on that aspect.
UPDATE: Figured this thread was worth a bump since I am boarding tomorrow at noon for a 2.5 day trip, just wanted to come rub it in a bit I'll have the GoPro with me for pics/video and report back on Sunday with a review.

I believe you take the skiffs, and they give you advice on locations and "techniques" on how to fish.

Yep you drive the skiffs two to each. Big draw back no trolling motor no anchor. Do bring an anchor. It's a great experience way more than about just catching. Do it if you can and hope for decent weather.

Maybe I should pick up a transom mount for my micro power pole lol!
Sounds like an awesome experience, I think I've already talked myself into going but was trying to figure it out. I see they will accommodate kayaks which is super tempting but seeing as this is a work trip...I'd probably be better off in the skiff "building relationships" than fishing solo

A brother of an OB poster went last weekend and it looked awesome. I'll try to see if I can round up some details.

I was curious also, seems like they would put more pictures on their site.

I've been a few times, but not with that particular guide service. The one down fall is that if the fish are not close by, you can't necessarily run too far in that skiff.
Depending on where he drops anchor, you might be subject to fishing that particular area the whole time, weather pending of course. You could always bounce to the surf side and vice versa if there is an unfavorable wind, but you might get your arse handed to you in that skiff if you want to explore other islands or areas.
Don't worry about an anchor. Listen to the guide and follow his direction if you guys have never been out there. Drift the flats and lower your expectations. You might get lucky. It's hit or miss out there. I've had stellar trips and then the not so much, enjoy, it's paradise on earth.

I'm a kayak fisherman, so being confined to the area I launch in is pretty routine for me

The Capt. will probably anchor in monkey bayou and you take off wherever the skiff gas tank will take you. Those trips were always great experiences and something I'll never forget. You can always beach the skiff and wade fish. I've been fishing out there since I was a kid. My uncle ran the Becuna out of Biloxi for decades.

If you book a trip, try to book it within a few days of the full moon, either before or after.

I did a similar trip out of south MS 6-7 yrs ago. Supposed to go to chandy islands but weather didn't allow. Ended up in Biloxi marsh and had a great time/trip. Two ppl per skiff with no trolling motor or anchor as others have described. We drifted bayous with the wind and did the same in large ponds. Caught a fair amount of small keeper trout and a lot of redfish in the ponds. Would absolutely go do it again.

My last trip to the BM (couple years ago), i had a blast reeling in a Blacktip. released him as it was out of season, but had a lot of fun.
ETA: where the hell is the update?........

The update is that I'm getting on the boat tomorrow and wanted to rub it in, that is all. but I do plan to post up some pics and maybe a vid for a little review after we get back

Remember not to get caught on the island when the tide drops. It's a long walk dragging a skiff back out to deeper water.
Learned that lesson the hard way.

Their FAQs state that they do accommodate kayaks.

So the fishing was tough and slow going, but the overall experience on this trip was incredible. I can't put into words how good of a time I had doing this.
Capt. Troy was unable to make this trip with us but Capt. Jeremy filled in along with mates Wes and Leo. The whole Double Trouble crew was exceptional and first class, and all the meals they served were great.
It was nice to get away from society/news/social media/work/life for a few days with no cell service and enjoy the outdoors with no drama or distractions. I really wished I'd had taken more pictures while being out there, but not having cell service caused me to forget about my phone and picture taking.
One of the guys caught a nice 4.5 lb trout on his first cast.
Some of the fish we caught, the rest of it was fried up fresh on the boat for dinner.
I'm trying to round up some picture from the other guys on the trip and will add more later if I get any.
