MIL bought a big green a while back. The cart she got with it has rotted out.

Looking at options for building a new one around the same size.

I know its not an exact estimate, but does anyone have an idea of how much a granite top would be? I don't know size maybe 2 feet by 5 feet with a hole for the grill.

I got my granite egg table top a couple years ago at a place on Tom drive east of airline. Can't remember the cost but it was stupid cheap. They cut the hole, polished the edges of the cut piece and I use that as a base to set the egg on on bottom shelf. I went there and picked out a slab / piece they had left over from another job.

Ya, thats what I'm thinking of doing. I don't really care about color as long as its not butt ugly. Its sitting outside and will be covered the majority of the time. I'm pretty much the only one that uses it and thats only like once or twice a year since it not my house.

I built my own with a granite top. That bitch was so heavy it was hard to roll. I eventually threw it out and got a new one.

Ya, this will be in a fixed position. The wheels on the current one have fallen apart.

Thinking about a metal frame as well, going to be pretty bare bones.

Only input MIL is getting is she would like a tile or granite top.

This is a bad pic, but I built this for about $200.

Cinder blocks, paint, glue and cut granite from a granite dealer on Choctaw. Built it... measured sizes for the 3 tops and they cut it. Easy peasy and looks better/more useful than alot of stands.

Sent her that picture, leaning towards something similar now. They have a white pergola and painting those cinder blocks white would help match and I think would look pretty good and be pretty much weather proof.

Here are step by step instructions... I obviously have a Primo XL, so I added a layer in the middle to fit the width of the Oval Primo. (I have had mine a couple years and never secured it like the site shows & have had no problem w this thing moving)

Cinder Block Map

Form your "nest" and measure the table tops for granite to be cut. Some granite dealers have tons of extra scrap pieces they can cut you for cheap.

Idea on an brush rack: Before securing the granite to the blocks, I bought a shower caddy to hold my charcoal stir, brush, dustpan, etc and hung it on the back (so it is hidden).

Good luck.
