The HOA lady walks the streets everyday while everyone else is at work and checks to see if you house/lawn is in compliance, if not she sends out a letter from HOA property management saying basically fix it now or we will file legal action. Currently my plan is to just change out the frontage area with cedar as she will not unlock my gate and go into the backyard to see if I changed out those planks.

Basically HOA pisses everybody off in the neighborhood. I once cut down a tree from the front yard in which I promptly recieved a letter saying replace with similar spieces and size.

I was livid. Never replaced it and never heard back. After that most of the neighbors cut down there extra trees.

Cypress much cheaper than cedar, is local.

Will hold its color and wont rott.
