Has anyone here dealt with this? I submitted my application the last week of January and received a denial letter yesterday.

The reason for the denial is that I marked I had no prior arrests. The fact of the matter is that I had not reported an arrest for "failure to leave premises" in 1996. I was 18 years old at the time and did something that stupid college freshmen do outside of a bar. I was arrested and even shared my jail cell with a good buddy of mine who consequently got a dwi in the Monroe PD parking lot coming to bail me out.

Anyway, does anyone have any history with appealing this for an overturn? I damn sure don't want to go another 9 months waiting for an appeal decision.'

I honestly had forgotten all about it being that it was 20 years ago. It was not something I did to hide the fact of the arrest.

I actually never paid a dime for the arrest as a family attorney friend had the charges dropped. I'm not arguing the ruling. I'm simply asking if anyone has had experience in dealing with a denied application.

I don't know how many times we have to reinforce it - DO NOT LIE ON THESE FORMS - they will find out and now you're a liar on top of being a criminal.

If you had just explained it like you did here, you probably have your CCP by now. Since you lied, this allowed them to draw all sorts of inferences about your character.

You sound like you're really fun at parties.

Use premium gas instead of regular? How is that going to help?

I don't know man. I've been to jail exactly once. I doubt I ever forget it happened. I can understand if you've been arrested 15 times and only reported 14 of them because you forgot one, but to forget the one and only time you've been arrested and taken to jail when someone ask you if you have ever been arrested seems suspect at best, especially since it seems like a pretty good story .

That's downright silly --- he's clearly buying CITGO fuel, instead of Exxon, Texaco or Shell.

How does a reasonable person forget about the one time they have been arrested and put in jail when responding to a request like this? Sounds like you were hoping they wouldn't catch this.

I was denied for mine in TX for a Simple Battery in Funroe for scraping at probably the same bar you were at. I put the arrest down on my application but did not send in the proof it was dismissed. So a simple trip to the Monroe courthouse and a court copy of a dismissal from 1993 sent to Austin got me my carry permit.

We are going to give you one more chance to come clean with us. Did you honestly forget about the arrest, or were you just hoping that Wanda in the records office would just take your word for it because she was late for her grandbaby's soccer game on the day she got to your application?

Know some who have

Now that you lied
You have the task of clearing the issue up IF you seriously want your ccp

Go to the courthouse of the parish it occured in and file the paperwork for them to research and find the arrest file in archives...you will have to supply the info and a letter on clarification to the LSP
