Caught my biggest bass ever out the Calcasieu River yesterday afternoon

In the 4 years I've been fishing it out of Moss Bluff, this is the biggest I've caught. I've caught a handful of 4 pounders, but this is the first 5!

If you pull on his tail out of frame of the 2nd shot a little harder it will read 7 or more.

Yep. It went straight to 5.02, then settled at 5.00.

It's hard to pull on the tail with the scale in one hand and phone in the other

It's funny, those river fish have no color whatsoever....

Main river. I've never been in the west fork. I always put in at White Oak and go north.

That's cause the water is too muddy. They stay light colored in muddy or deep water.

Congrats... I will be working around Orange Texas this year. I might bring the boat along. Might try the Sabine or trailer over to the Calcasieu.
