Went down a rabbit hole looking for the place I last saw a turkey growing up and found this info.
LINK /
I can remember swimming in that hole as a yout. Water was cold and clear and everyone got alone.
Great squirrel hunting and muscadine picking.

Buddy of mine still has an old pool his great grandfather built in the 1930’s. Olympic size concrete pool with two artisan wells flowing in. They originally used it to make side money and offered a “pay to play.” Advertised in the local paper. Poolhouse, Locker rooms, high dive, baby pool etc. That stopped in the early 70’s so just for the family now. It’s still by far the best feeling to jump in that pool after cutting grass or working outside in the heat of the Summer. It’ll take your breath away when you first hit, after about 30 seconds it just revives you, and washes the heat of the day right off.
Old people still pop by from time to time to see if it’s still there, and share stories of way back when. The stories are priceless. It’s iconic to them. Old folks still use it as a reference point when giving directions, like everyone should know right where it is.
“ Take a right up there by the ole ( last name) pool, go about 1/2 mile and it’s your first left off the blacktop”
Only a few even know it exists and still a serviceable pool.
There are dozens of old newspaper clipping frames on the poolhouse wall like the one shown above.
Really cool.

When I was a younger baw, you could swim in Castor off the Olla-Winnfield Rd.
Same story, clear, cool water. Now it’s just a mud hole.

Loved Castor Plunge when I was a kid.We had our 8th grade picnic there(Prompt Succor)
There were a good many camps there. The dance hall closed before I was old enough to go there.Squirrel hunted there some in the fall, there was lots of Cat squirrels.
There were several cool places around like that-Shady Nook,Magnolia Park,Fishville swimming hole with skating rink across the road.
Trout Creek/White Sulpher Spring down the road fromFishville was my families favorite place.Cold water and was very good fishing. There were a good many camps there also, even was a hotel at one time ,I was told.
Good times !

I spent many summer days swimming at Trout Creek at White Super Springs. Good times. Throw a watermelon in the creek to keep it cool. Or we made homemade ice cream on the creek bank.
