I've got some carbon buildup on my TLR-1s and can't seem to remove it. I tried regular gun solvent but it just doesn't seem to work. Anyone have any experience with this?

Do you have it mounted to one of these:

On the lens or on the side? I use a Q-tip squirted with Windex to clean the lens on my X2L.

On the lens. Just can't seem to remove it.

On the lens
Fine grain sandpaper takes it off. Rub gently then hit it with a polish.
ETA: Applying wax to your lens helps with removing it. Wax the lens then after every shooting wipe it down. Wax keeps the carbon from sticking, but you have to apply regularly

Never would have thought about a pencil eraser, just tried it on my tac light with heavy stuck on buildup. Worked better than anything I've ever tried.

Never tried a pencil eraser either. Will have to give it a try

White toothpaste gets it cleaned up like new. And smells minty fresh!

FYI. If you are going to be shooting a bunch in daylight (i.e. a training course) but don't want to remove the light, rub some vaseline or gun grease on the lens before you shoot. You can wipe it off after and no carbon on the lens.

I use fireclean.
A little drop and use a cloth with a little elbow grease.

Yeah...this works well.
I apply a little gun oil on mine every time I oil it so when I get ready to shoot I don't have to worry about it.
