Can someone explain why Springfield Armory had to create this apology video?

It has to with the Illinois Gun Dealer Licensing Bill. A bill that put restrictions on gun dealers in the state. The Illinois Firearm Manufacturer’s Association traded their opposition of the bill in exchange for a carve-out for existing manufacturers. The Illinois Firearm Manufacturer’s Association took donations from Springfield and Rock River. Both companies claim they had no knowledge of the exemption being negotiated.

Who really knows what happened. Maybe they thought The Illinois Firearm Manufacturer’s Association was lobbying to get the bill pulled and they did the opposite, or they had knowledge of the exemption and didn't think the blowback would be what it is. Plausible Deniability

SB1657
quote:

Creates the Gun Dealer Licensing Board consisting of 5 members appointed by the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation to recommend policies, procedures, and rules relevant to the administration and enforcement of the Act. Provides that the holder of a dealership license issued under the Act may employ in the conduct of his or her business dealership agents. Establishes qualifications for obtaining dealership licenses and for being employed as a dealership agent. Establishes penalties for violations of the Act. Provides for rulemaking, including emergency rulemaking. Amends the Regulatory Sunset Act. Provides that the Act is repealed on January 1, 2028. Amends the Illinois Administrative Procedure Act. Makes conforming changes.

They (RRA & SA) did essentially what Ruger did when Bill Clinton's 1994 gun control bill (nabbed AR15's with certain features and banned hi-cap (standard capacity) in 1994.

They carved out an exemption in exchange their support of gun control legislation. After word leaked out that their lobbyist had actively supported the legislation, RRA & SA fired the lobbyist and now claim they had no idea that he had supported the bill.

Everyone has either forgotten what Bill Ruger (now deceased) did, or have chosen to not really care. This will be no different.

A poster got mad at me before because I made the statement that Bill Ruger was kind of the guy that coined this idea that 10 rounds is all you really need in a firearm magazine.

Oh yea and Geaux Tigers!
