I was surprised too, but honestly we didn't see as many fish as I had seen a few years back. We did from Grinders Ferry (hwy 65) to Dillard's Ferry (hwy 14)

I threw a mepps, rebel crawfish crank bait, tubes and crawfish soft plastic. Even threw some Mr. Hooties and small spinners. The fish we did see were on the move surprisingly. Saw them in small schools headed upstream. Some of the best looking areas we didn't even see a fish. Saw more carp than anything which was surprising to me. I don't recall seeing any last trip went on which was 12yrs ago though

That looks like an awesome trip. Did you bring your own kayaks? $50 for the shuttle sounds like a great deal. How many days/nights did it take? What are the rules on camping out there? Are there designated areas or can you pretty much pitch a tent anywhere?

We were not told of any when we went. We just started looking for a nice area as we were ready to shut it down for the day.

Pretty sure one of those places had a Blair Witch type critter in the woods.

Heard something fall down the mountain in the middle of the nite. Found a dead doe at the bottom of a tall cliff the next morning. Always wondered wtf made her jump

How long of a trip do you usually do? I was thinking something like 3day/2night would be fun. How's the water flow? Is is mostly paddling or floating?

They offer rental during spring and summer. We took our own. We did 4 days/3 nights. You can go longer or shorter. There are many places to launch and pick up. Throw a tent up anywhere you'd like.

We had planned for 3 nights, but between running out of Wolf Chili, having soaked tents, losing out 1 Rebel crankbait and impending sleet storm, we called the rental people when we found a phone at some park and got pulled out after 2 nights. Our people were flexible on how long we could stay out there. Problem is, ending up in an area where they can get you.

Ah. I personally like the smaller rivers. Homochitto is always fun, and so is the buffalo here too. I want to do the Tennessee Tom up north
