Trying to find somewhere down south I can bring my camper down and my boat and camp somewhere on the water to take my kids fishing and camping. Any ideas?

Good website to search parks
Take your pick.
Chicot is great for camping and kids activities. Pretty lake. The fishing can be hit and miss though.

Is there any water in Chicot?

Yep. They did a draw down to repair a bridge, but it's back up.

I have really wanted to give this a try. But always wondered when was the best time of year for surf fishing. I was hoping spring or fall when it wasn't so hot. The idea of camping and fishing May-Sept in south LA is not sounding so great.

Bayou Segnette state park. Plenty of decent freshwater fishing in the area and not too far of a boat ride to get some saltwater action too.
