what does Campsite Unimproved mean?

We're planning on camping out of the back of the truck, will that be an issue?

There's tables and fire pits on the beach which is where those "spots" are, though I've seen people camp out of their vehicles in the parking lot. Behind the parking lot there's a few covered tables, but I don't believe any fire pits.

The beach camping sites at GISP are great IF you have a large cart to help transport all your camping stuff. You want to make as few trips as possible hauling stuff on the long boardwalk between the beach and parking lot.

No vehicles on beach at GISP. But you could go to one of the RV sites with your truck to set up camp. Those spots are pretty close to each other, but perhaps it won't be that busy this weekend? It's a relative short walk from those spots over sand bank to beach. I don't think they will let you truck camp at the parking lot for beach sites?

The RV spots are booked up, I actually was going to go this weekend but they're booked solid.

OP, if you're just camping out of your truck you won't have to transport any gear, they don't allow vehicles on the beach so you'll be limited to the parking lot only. I'm not sure if anyone who runs the park will give you any crap about that though.
