Camper Trailer Questions

Hey guys, need some help.
My wife and I are looking for a camper trailer but I really don't know much about them.
We want one that my truck can tow easily and that we can use for tailgating as well as camping.
We don't need much, it's just three of us for now, but I'm sure we'll have another kid down the line.
Any suggestions on where I can get a "101" lesson on camper trailers?
Also, any suggestions on where to look for good deals on used ones?
TIA for the help guys.

Louisianasportsman.com is your best bet for used.
Stay 1,000 lbs or more under your truck's towing capacity, and you should be just fine.

Well, if you come to the RV VetMed lot this weekend you can see a lot of different types of RVs. There will be a ton there for the game.
People are generally friendly and will talk about their rigs. You can get a feel for you want bedore you go to the sales lot.
You'll want to consider how and what type of generator you'll need.
Tow vehicle is important. Know your weights, loaded and unloaded. Find an empty parking lot to practice backing, if you don't know how.
Best of luck.

I have an '06 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Series with V6.
Tow weight is approximately 5,350 lbs. Hitch is attached to frame.
Hoping to buy used and after I buy a new truck in the next few years upgrade the camper.
I would like to stay in a price range of $3,000 to $4,000 for this one.
Thanks again guys.

I will second the bunkhouse model. I started out with a rear lounge and after having children we sold that one and went with a bunk house 5th wheel. While the 5th wheel tows better but i find myself missing the truck bed storage that a bumper pull affords. Also if you get a bumper pull make sure to get a decent weight distributing hitch as that is just as important as having the right tow vehicle. As far as generators i have had good success using two EU2000 honda generators run in parallel. One is the companion model and has a 30 amp plug pre wired. It will only trip if the water heater, microvave and A/C are run at the same time

Read about GVWR / Axle GVWR / Payload / Pin Weights / Weight distribution hitches - pick a trailer based on what your truck can handle especially if you are not experienced pulling a travel trailer...

U should start looking for a new truck first then get a heavier camper than what ur taco can pull

Low towing capacity, only 3 camping, and only wanting to spend $3000 a 40000.
You should be looking at pop up campers.
We've had ours for 4 years and love it.
It weighs less than 2,000 lbs. so it's simple to pull and stop.

his family is still growing, he's going to lose his butt on it when he realizes he needs something bigger very quickly.
