IF you're flying in & out of SFO and IF you're interested in renting a lens, I highly recommend using borrowlenses.com. Their west coast location is in San Carlos, just a few minutes south of the airport. This could save you a good bit of change as you're not paying for any shipping. I've used them twice to rent a camera and a lens. Don't wait until the last minute to reserve a lens. Note that they're closed on Sundays so that wouldn't work if you needed to return a lens then.
