Buying Used Diesel truck questions

My little bro is in market for a used diesel truck. Wants a duramax, any ideas on some resources to use or places to look? He will be using it to pull equipment trailers with. How many miles is too many considering he will be putting a lot of highway miles on it? All serious advice is appreciated.

312,000 miles on my Duramax and still going strong. Seems his price range will dictate the miles, no?
I'd have the transmission inspected, the differential, and drive shaft center support bearing as well. Oh and the AC.

Under 30k. He is selling his truck and trying to keep his note low, he needs to save up for a better down payment and just deal with it as a fixed expense.

Bought mine off autotrader. I drove 6 hours to get it, but saved about 5k.

Make sure it didn't belong to some "I wanna blow black smoke and be cool kid" other than that check out the trans, diff, and carrier bearing.

Tell him to hold tight. It sucks, but lots of land men and folks on the fracking side will be offloading their's soon.
