Buying a Boat Out of State - What Process Did You Have to Follow

I just purchased a new boat from a dealer in Miss. Price beat anyone local and he had exactly what I wanted. Now I have to do the DMV/LDWF/Pay my taxes deal. Can anyone offer advice on the process they used to get all this settled, i.e. DMV first, go to (insert tax place here) next, blah, blah, blah.

i bought a new boat in miss. earlier this year.
- get multiple bill of sale from seller because every state/local department will want original BOS- NOT COPIES
- go to local parish tax office and pay taxes
- go to dmv pay taxes on trailer and get plate
- submit paperwork from parish tax to state tax office (email)
- once the state approves then submit to WLF for registration numbers
- i submitted all paperwork to state office on july 1. I still have not received any receipt to bring to WLF. I call every week and it is "in processing"
- WLF told me i can use boat with no numbers as long as i have all paperwork with me to prove i am in the process of getting it registered. I keep a folder with all papers and receipts in the boat.
where are the pictures of the boat?

You can email the boat tax form to dept of revenue
go to their website and find the boat registration form
any auto title place can do your trailer

Called the boat place back about this and he suggests me supplying the certificates of origin as proof. If they're not happy with that he suggests have said agency call him and he can fax over originals. I only have one original BOS in my possession.

Have to receive Certificates of Origin in the mail before I can go to the DMV. The boat company is sending them and should arrive in the next day or so.

Ok. Gonna have to search an email address for them. Shouldn't be too hard.

Gotcha.

It's filthy in that pic because I caught torrential downpours all the way home. Me and the lil man decided to clean it that night after pics were taken.

Noticed this in the link you provided (thx, btw)....
The buyer must submit a completed Boat Registration Tax Payment Certification, along with the sales invoice or copy of a bill of sale from the out-of-state dealer to the Department of Revenue (see Contact Options listed below)
So a copy of the BOS may work. I've got the tax certificate all filled out.
Form
When I paid the local taxes this morning, they filled in their number under parish sales tax paid. But I have no idea how much Louisiana Sales Tax I owe. I figure 20 bucks oughta cover it but I doubt that's enough.
Do I email them that form then they email me an amount owed then I send said amount? Seems like a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth.
