I haven't, but it is in the Black Belt. The potential for big deer is there.

Black belt is a bit north of Butler, closer to Dallas county...

I've hunted Butler a while back for about 3 years ...
If you can get in a club that runs along the Tombigbee river with a lot of bottoms, you will kill some nice deer.

If not they arent much better than most average Mississippi deer

Hunted it for several years. My friend's dad ran a lodge up there for awhile. Now it's a club outfit deal. His place is near Scott Mountain.

What others have said is correct. There are lots of deer, but not really monsters. Clients would kill a couple 140s a year.

Worked as a "guide" at a lodge just north of there for a year. What are you wanting to know?

We started out at non river club our first year, and then got a place along the river about two miles soutg of ezells fish camp for the next two...

we then moved up to Dallas county on 10,000 acres of soybeans with hardwood bottom creeks running all through it...big 8s and 10s everwhere you looked...

Only stayed there 2 yrs before some rich doctor group offered triple what we were paying at the time...

Was too spoiled to hunt deer for years after that...

Ive hunted there the past 8yrs or so. Place we hunt is alil south of there and borders the choctaw NWR. Hunt around 3500 acres. We've shot some nice deer out there. Headed up week after next

ETA: what bluemoons said, biggest deer we've killed out there was a 135-140ish deer. shite load of deer, just have to be patient on a big one. Our rule is, shoot ur does early, after that, if you shoot horns, you have to mount it.

Agreed with most of which y'all said. We are on about 1700 acres about 10 miles south Butler, in Gilbertown. We have been seeing plenty deer but 98% does. Last week, we found a bunch of scrapes so hopefully the big boys are finally starting to move. Headed up today and hunting through Saturday. Hope to finally get a big one.

Been in the village multiple times and bought my last rifle from there. We know a few of the people that work there pretty well. Headed out now. Will report back with some good news that they're moving.
