Watch yourself out there and don't get caught burning in one of the 60 parishes where the ban is in effect. Only St Mary, Iberville, St Landry, and Bossier are exempt from the ban.

Probsbly weren't the only one. Sending this out on a Saturday was pretty short-sighted. Probably could have busted people all over the state for burning yesterday, maybe even today.

No kidding. We've been in the woods since Friday. And the only news I get when out here is from tigerdroppings.

Nope:

quote:

This ban shall not apply to prescribed burns by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, by those trained and certified by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, or by those who conduct prescribed burning as a “generally accepted agriculture practice” as defined by the Louisiana Right to Farm Law (R.S. 3:3601 et seq.).

Should get a little rain here next couple of days. Probably not enough but man my place is dry and no way I'm lighting a fire.

It's hillarious how many people complain about this to LDAF, but none what to put their name to it.

That is why I Cane farmers are above the law. Who else can load a trailer way over 100k lbs and put it on the road?

As much as I wish that were the case, it isn't true
Every indusrty is granted some type of benefit that isnt available to the rest of us.
Burning cane residue is one. As far as loading up heavy trucks, there are exceptions for other industries...we only do it for 3 months out of the year.

It's an agricultural practice, how is this a benefit over others? They have to abide by certain rules and have a burn plan in order to burn right now. And if they don't have one at other times, they are just as liable as any other person that fails to control a burn.

They can still burn industrial forestland as well, because prescribed burning is an agricultural practice.
