Guy that farms next to me shot this nice 8 a couple of days ago. Using the camera angle to his advantage but still a 140 class deer.

Very nice deer, not 140 in my opinion. Has the tine length, but doesn't have the mass or spread.

Should have given him another year...

He has 25" main beams, and 11" G2s, nice G3s and nice brow tines. That's 140" all day long.

Give him another year.. No
But I do agree he not 140.. 140 8 point is unreal big. That deer is just big not unreal big. He looks 130 to me but who cares still a fine deer, scoring is overrated.. Fine deer!

That deer has good mass and spread don't mean shite. Mass and tine length is where it's at.

Yea, I wasn't really asking "what do you think he will score?" He has already been green scored by a Pope and Young score measurer so I have a pretty good idea what he will score. Just thought I would post the picture. He was pretty proud of it as he should be.

I think he touches 140, but it will be right there at it. Great main beam length and huge G2s. It looks like the right G2 has more length than the left, which would lead to deductions (although that could just be camera angle). Good mass too.

There are no such things as deductions on the OB. This is a gross score, plus 10%, type environment.

That deer is 140 all day. I bet he scares the hell out of 150.

This is why the "spread" rule at camps killed deer hunter's ability to appreciate a trophy buck.

That's kind of what I thought too. Some of these guys that can score a deer on a computer screen better than a man with tape in his hands crack me up. That's why I love this site.

People put way too much emphasis on spread and not nearly enough on beam length. Beams that wrap around like that are going to be 24-25 inches. That deer going to be around 95" before any tine length is added.
