My thoughts behind the 22 were obviously that the recoil is much less, so she'd be happy putting a couple of hundred rounds downrange in a day, and she could buy 100 and 550-pks of ammo easily, and without breaking the bank
After looking around for a few hours yesterday, the Sig 1911-22 seems like it would be the best fit for those categories.
IIRC, my step-dad still has a few hours of range time on a gift certificate for that Shooters Club place in Harahan. I'd like her to check out the feel of a full-sized 1911 before buying though. I still want it to be somewhat of a surprise, so I have been telling her it is for me.
I fell asleep watching a nutnfancy review of the Sig, and had your video loaded up to watch after that.

Since you were talking up the TLR-1 so much, I picked one up from Amazon for $99. The lock up is super tight, and it's well built. If it holds up as well as I think it will, I don't think I'll be spending more than twice as much for a Surefire again.
Happy to help! It's a great value light. I wish the strobe were easier to activate but that's my only gripe.

Nothing wrong with that... but you know 45 is a hell of a lot more expensive than both 22lr and 9mm right?
I think if you both get a 22 for range plinking that would be just fine. But if you want to get her a fun gun that will also be a good defensive handgun, a 9mm, 40, or 45 would suit you much better.

Just went to Academy to try and advise my step-dad against purchasing a Gen 4 Glock 19
What a GD uncomfortable gun. He bought into the hype and went against my advise. Some jackass cop(I suspect a Glock rep) was there informing him how it is the best gun ever made, and that he must only shoot 115gr bullets. I walked away at that point. He's gonna love having blisters all over his hands after a box of 100 rounds
Back to the subject... There happened to be a Sig 1911-22. Felt almost exactly like any 1911 I have ever held. Only bad thing was the plastic rear sights. I am gonna get her on a 1911 soon to see how she likes them.
If it wouldn't have been $439 I would've walked out with it

Every cop I know swears by Glock. They are great guns, but I just don't like the style.

A lot of cops prefer the 1911. Agencies just won't issue them or allow them.

I have my PPQ over here. My GF just pulled both triggers and said the Glock feels and sounds like a toy. She also commented that it was "ugly as shite"
Whatever, it's not my mistake. He'll have to live with it. After handling that Sig 1911, I remembered why everyone likes them so much. God damn those things are perfect
Who'd of thought bapple and KR actually know what they are talking about

They are ugly as shite. Great guns, though.

Define pulled both triggers?

Well, I loaded the clip up with three "cop killers" and let her shoot both assault pistols at the Superdome. No idea if the bullets made it past the ghetto though, because it is too dark there
FWIW, I have a Gen 2 Glock 20, and the grip is night and day more comfortable than this Gen 4. It doesn't make a toy gun sound when I pull the trigger either. The plastic feels much thicker on the 10mm also. Both nowhere near how strong my PPQ plastic is though. The mag release is much less pronounced on the Gen 4, to the point which I have to turn the gun sideways to drop the mag.

I laughed reading this entire sentence. Well done, sir.
Glad you didn't drink the Glock koolaid. Well, the 4th generation koolaid at least.
Did she hold an M&P or XD? Those are pretty good polymer double stacks too.
Then again, if the 1911 feels awesome, it is also a great candidate since it is so slim and comfortable. Just be sure to get it in the classic American .45 Automatic Colt Pistol.

He magically decided that he is gonna need something to CC once we got there. I don't know where he got that idea, but it won't ever happen.
Started looking at smaller stuff, and I was trying to sell the 4.5" M&P pretty hard. I told him about the interchangeable grips and other features he should check out. He just wouldn't get the Glock thoughts out of his head. He said he wanted to go check different ones out, but he actually just went to buy a Glock(he hasn't ever held one). When we left, his reasoning for not getting the M&P was that the grips were too fat.
*This was all after he randomly decided he needed a pistol TODAY at around 2pm*
I am gonna use this as a chance to get him and my gf some professional handgun training, so it might work out after all

I wouldn't go with a .22 not very practical in home defense situation and ammo is too hard to find. I would look at the barreta nano the Ruger LC9 or Kahr CM9. Sig makes a pocket size 9mm too but it feels like a brick in your hand. If you want something cheap you can get a kel-tec pf9 for $300

Good advice for a concealed carry gun but he is looking for a target/home defense gun. When you are not constrained on size, i.e. not carrying it, a full size handgun will always be a better choice.
But for CC I think your advice is pretty good. Well, except that the Sig 938 is a good CC gun. But you may be referring to the Sig P250 which I don't like at all.

She actually told you what she wants, and you're going to go and get her something different?
