If I was going to build a box stand for bow hunting, what should the dimensions be? Dimensions for the actual stand and the windows?

I'm no bow hunter but that sounds like a bad idea

built on an octogen shaped base, wide enough that you can sit in the center and draw your bow, four 6-12" wide vertical shooting windows from floor to about 4' for 360 shooting coverage...

Check the Texas Bowhunter forum. Their DIY forum has lots of plans. Octagonal bow hunting boxes are very popular in Texas. Not a lot of trees to hang stands out west.

It needs to be octagon shaped, 7' tall so you can stand upright and not hit your top cam on the roof, have vertical Windows on each wall that are 1ft wide and 4ft tall. The Windows need to be fairly close to the floor because you will not be shooting vertical with a bow, you will always be shooting downward.

We have build several for our lease in Illinois for late season bow hunting. They work pretty well.
