Ok, well I'm in the market for a good used bow around 400-500$ since I'm new at this. I know matthews , Hoyt's, and etc. , but I was wondering models and such you experts would recommend.TIA.

Btw I'm a 28.5-29 inch draw (5'9"), and I can pull 70lbs pretty easy.

I own a PSE Brute very nice bow, nice and compact, will adjust from 28 to 30 inch draw and will adjust from 50 to 70lb. Bought it a couple years ago and love it. I bought the field ready bow which new was around 625 to 650 new. I can't find the Brute on the website I think it's under another name, but can't go wrong with a PSE, cheaper than most but if your comfortable shooting it and like your bow, you can kill anything that the 1500 dollar bow can. BTW I bought my son a used one at a shop and paid 200 for it changed the string and he loves it.

This site has a lot of good information, also has some bows for sale. Link

Me personally I like a 7" brace height and 32-33" axle to axle after that the world is your oyster

When I got my bow I went to cabelas and shot all the bows they had at the $499 price ready-to-hunt packages. I had a gift card for the accessories (arrows, broad heads, etc.) but you could do the same at the $399 range and still get your accessories within your budget. Also the guy at the counter was very helpful and set the bow up to my draw length, poundage, and peep sight.

You won't get a top of the line bow but you'll have something new and fit to you while you get a feel for the sport. I ended up getting a Bear Strike package (2009 model) and it shoots flatter and much quieter than my BIL's early 2000 model Hoyt and Mathews

My recommendation is to shoot a lot of different bows and buy what is comfortable for you and don't worry about the brand name.

Unless you have SUPER long arms, you are not a 28.5-29" DL. The average DL for a 5'9" person is 27.5". I would be shocked if you were a 28.5-29" DL.

And pulling to 70# is unnecessary IMO. 60# is plenty and makes the draw cycle more pleasant.

Everyone has there preference on bows. You need to go and shoot different ones to see what fits you best. Find one you like and then looked used. You can find a quality used bow that will last you for years. Good Luck
