A friend at work was selling it for $750. I offered him $650 and he said it was a done deal. My b nlaw said I got a great deal. The only reason I bought it was because it had never been shot and still had the tags on it. I only bird hunt two or three times a year and have numerous other shotguns. My question is should I save this gun and not shoot it since it never has been shot or save it for my kids?

That sounds like a good deal to me but I don't know what they go for. Would be cool to give it to your kids when they are old enough.

Does it shoot only 2 3/4 shells?

Wish mine still looked like that. I beat the shite out of mine duck hunting saltwater marsh. Later had it parkerized and put a synthetic forearm and stock on it. Looks great but not as sweet as that.

Ya, you could keep it and give it to a kid for a badarse christmas/birthday present, or you could sell it for like 1200 bucks and make some money.

damn nice gun and you got a hell of a deal on it, too. it is a nice gun, but not valuable enough to be putting away forever, unless you just don't want to use it.

I would shoot it. Guns are meant to be shot.

beautiful gun, you got a great deal I think.

On a diff note, don't think I have ever seen a shotgun displayed on a kids art picnic table.

Great gun! Unfortunately there isn't much value in the Jap guns as collector's. You may find one for sale for $1500 but it isn't going to bring that. Especially for a Jap Light 12 which is the most produced model of that era. You got a good deal on it still, but real world value is going to be around $1000 in mint condition like yours. I'd shoot the heck out of it. Besides what gun is going to mean more to your kids
A) a gun that they saw in the safe all its life or
B) the gun that they always seen Dad use on many hunts
I think we all know the answer to that question

frick that. If it has a mod imp cyl choke, I'd shoot it at everything and the 870 would get permanent closet duty.

Sweet! I've been looking for one like that.

I would shoot it. Ducks, dove, whatever. Not a collectors item.

I would shoot it too. What's the point in buying a gun and not shooting it? I wouldn't take it to the marsh and beat the hell out of it, but I take it out to shoot clay or a dove shoot or something.
