My running lights aren't working and I'm not sure what the issue is. I have checked the ground and it is solid, I traced all lines and I don't any wear spots or tears. I'm thinking next step is to change the plug? Not really sure what else to check.

Get a 12v tester and start from the vehicle.

Got a voltage tester? No man sure be without one even if it is a cheap HF $4 one.

Test your plug on your truck/car first and ten go from there.

May be the fuse in your truck, my gmc has separate fuse for trailer running lights and brake lights

I have issues with lights also. I do not own and do not know how to use a multi-meter. I would like to learn, but I do not know anyone who knows how. Perhaps a video showing us how to use it to check out our boat trailer lights? That would be great.

They sell a cheap tester with two leads, I added a jumper with clamps on either end for distance. You have to have your test equipment on the same battery terminals or you're screwed in a boat. With a trailer harness use it to find your hot and ground and go downstream after that.

Rip them out and run electric cords. No problem in several years

Not a bad idea. And replace the lights with LEDs.

do you have the cheap trailer wiring kit wire? if so, you very easily could just have rusted and broken wire.

I meant extension cords of course. My buddy took out my LED's and put standard cheap trailer lights (long oval ones). I was burning them fast in saltwater so they cheap and easy to replace. He had to make the light bracket out of aluminum. It's the best thing I've done to my boat since buying it, fast cheap and easy.

Yeah. I knew what you meant. I use to lose lose lights all the time from backing them into the water. Have had LED's for 3 years with no problems.

Guess I shouldn't have given those LED's away then.
