Boat Trailer Jack

I have a sea hunt 19 ft bay boat dry weight 2,050 lbs. Put some new rims and tires on it this weekend and was surprised to find out that the jack I carry around for my truck, 4wheeler, lawnmower, and flat boat is not tall enough to jack up this boat trailer...had to put the boat in the water and then get two people to lift up the trailer while I changed them out on each side. Question is, can someone please tell me which jack to buy in case I ever get a flat on the side of the road?

Can you just throw a short pieces of 4x4 in the boat bilge or something? I would rather that than trying to buy a new jack.

A bottle jack of the appropriate size wouldn't take up a whole lot of room.
But I would just keep a block of 4x4 in the truck.

I wouldn't be jacking anything up on a 4x4. You're basically jacking up on a tippy 2x4. Try and find something bigger like a 12x12 block from somewhere.

Torsion axle or leafs?
What jack point are you trying to use on the trailer? You can use the axle to life the boat off the ground if you place the jack close enough to the hanger. It's hard to imagine the axle being so high a factory truck jack wouldn't lift it. For sure keep a small jack stand in your truck.

I have the same problem. Last weekend I was close to ruining the jack because it took every centimeter to get it high enough. Block of wood is now in my truck.

My factory scissor jack goes up like two feet. That's not high enough?

Look for an older (94-99) GM scissor jack. I know for a fact they had them

I've never seen a boat trailer axle too high that a normal scissor or bottle jack couldn't lift the tire off the ground.
Unlike a car or truck that usually has jack points somewhere on the frame, you should place the jack directly under the axle on a trailer so it lifts the wheel directly.

On a torsion axle, there is a lot of downward movement of the wheels as the weight is removed. Pretty sure that's why it was such a close call for me.

An old tractor/4x4 jack works great. Though the secret to making anyjack work is having a wood black handy.

Ahhhh. I'd never seen a setup like that. But now I see why it'd be difficult to get a jack under what should be the lowest point of the trailer. In a torsion setup the axle is rigid mounted to the frame much higher than a typical spring mounted axle...
I stand corrected on my previous post.
Easiest and cheapest thing I could see doing in the OPs case is just throw a cut section of 4x4 or 6x6 in the truck whenever towing the boat.

Couple of 2x8 pieces work for me.
