Boat Motor Being Stubborn On Start Up

I have a 2008 Yamaha 90 2-stroke. In the past the boat has never had a problem starting cold. It's like your normal 2-stroke, it needs to be choked and turned over a few times before it cranks up and then after it runs it will crank no problem. Well the last 2 or 3 times out it has not wanted to start. I pump the bulb until I physically can't, and choke it a few times and it just won't crank. Eventually after turning it over several times, it will crank up but sputter and die. Then from there it will gradually get better until it's running fine. After the boat runs for a bit, it runs and starts up just fine.
What do y'all think the issue may be? I run non eth fuel. I did have the motor full tilt for about a month could some gas have leaked out and it took a while to get some gas back in?

Probably have something sticky in the carb. Do you run your carbs dry before storing the boat? When was the last time you checked your sparky plugs? You really should be pulling them every so often to check for fouling.
These motors are super easy to work on. Only three things can keep it from running. Fuel. Spark. Air. You can almost always rule out air. You can check spark with a multimeter and visual inspection of the plugs. That said it's almost always fuel related.
If you don't feel comfortable pulling and syncing the carbs, then a good shop will tune them up for a couple hundred bucks. I suggest buying an FSM and trying to learn first, unless you're short on time and need the boat.

also check your fuel line. if it is one of the cheap lines from walmart, they have a plastic lining that falls apart and clogs up the line and carb.

A lot of times some of those motors like to have a little gas applied and not always being choked. Also I would use some quick spray carb cleaner does great at cleaning the carbs

I replaced the plugs about 6 months ago. I will check them to see if maybe I'm not getting a good spark. I wouldn't think it would be a spark issue as when the motor is warmed up it cranks right up. Spark issue would lead to it not wanting to crank even if it has been ran right?
I'm thinking some kind of fuel issue. I'm skeptical of a carb issue too because like I said it runs fine when it has run for a couple minutes. Literally the motor runs like a top after it cranks and runs for 30 seconds. Won't have an issue the rest of the day. It's only on a cold start that there is an issue.
Fuel lines aren't the cheap lines. These are original lines that came with the boat and are fuel rated.

It's almost always a carb.

See if your motor has a switch like this one....
It's on the front of the motor behind the air intake
My father 90 Hp has the same problem, I change to the open position, crank the motor, let it idle for a couple of minutes then switch it back up to auto. No more problems starting the rest of the day. The issue only seems to happen when the motor sits for a few days.

That enrichment system acts like a choke and that is exactly what your problem sounds like.

This is interesting. I'll try the enrichment switch next time out. I'll be honest I have never heard of it and couldn't tell you if it was on my boat or not.

How old is the gas in the tank and did you disconnect the fuel line the last time you ran it and let it burn out.
It's usually clogged up due to the mixture of oil/gas.

thats just the life of a yama 2 stroke carbed engine. Just a cold motor. Tends to get worse and worse over time. Just make sure to pump the ball, throttle it down a couple times and give it a little throttle when cranking. Eventually it cranks up and no problems after that.
I always made sure my batteries are fully charged and cranked it at the house before getting to the launch.

Try pushing in and turning the key to engage the choke but not turn the engine and hold for about 8 seconds. Release and turn the key to start the engine without choking.
