I think i caught one tonight. Have caught a lot of hybrids before but I can't remember catching one of these. I'll post pictures in a bit. I didn't know if they were common or not?

Where were you fishing? Probably just a delicious panfish that you don't know about.

Warmouth? The definitely looks like what it was. I've caught so many Sunfish or bream species in my life I can't remember catching one like this but I guess I probably have. The bigger mouth with a crappie shape and bluegill coloring threw me off.

I think your original guess was correct. My BIL has hybrid blue gill in SW Oklahoma. They have the blue streaks throughout their body like the one does around the mouth in your picture. The ones he has are very aggressive.

The pics hide it a bit but it had really blue streaks/ spots throughout its body, especially its face. it looks like the warmouth in that pic but wt a lot more blue.

I've heard warmouth called goggle eye, but haven't heard of green sunfish called that.

Warmouth, rock bass, and green sunfish all get called goggle eye by someone somewhere. They all look similar.
