blackjack = ringbill = ringneck

dos gris = bluebill = scaup

"dos gris" literally translates to grey-back. A ringneck has a black back. A scaup has a grey back, hence scaup = dos gris.

From an interested observer outside of the regions:

Ringneck = Ringneck, but if using a nick, it's Blackjack

Scaup = Scaup. No nick ever used.

great clarification. One other nickname we call dos gris is "dogs" for short........"hold up, don't shoot, it's dogs!"

Up here in NWLA we refer to Ringnecks as blackjacks. But we don't know shite, we're just yankees.
