Best water sealer for new deck? (UPDATE FOR NEW QUESTION IN OP)

NEW QUESTION...
How long do I need to wait before I can seal it? How long does it usually take pressure treated lumber to dry enough in order to absorb the sealer?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Just redid my whole back deck from the ground up except for my pergola, swing frame and the bbq grill cover area which were solidly and built with 6x6's. The old decking was covered in the painted sealer but I really like the natural wood look. Done a little research and it shows that clear sealers don't last as long as painted ones, for obvious reasons. Some old articles I found say Olympic Sealer from Lowes lasts the longest(up to 2 years). Anyone have any experience with these clear sealers? Should I just go back with the painted stuff?
Pics below for reference. Pay no attention to all the clutter in the middle. Had to move it all there to have room to do all the work.

Diesel and burnt motor oil. Little red and brown oil based paint for color. It'll look better and last longer than anything you buy.
...and be quite a bit cheaper.

I faced the same dilemma....your choice is to go with a transparent stain that looks much better or something that blocks out the UV rays and lasts a lot longer.
I was tempted to go with the transparent, but just couldn't convince that I would actually redo it every couple of years.
I compromised and chose a semi transparent that looks pretty good and has pretty good longevity.

Olympic is good shite.. Spray it on and be sure to use it all in one day. Dont leave it in the sprayer, use a sprayer that u can dispose of or clean really good with gas,,its sticky as shite and will clog it up.

I used Olympic last summer on all of my fencing and have been very happy with the results. I can't remember which one, but it was transparent.

TWP - Total Wood Protectant. Go by Cajun Cypress and Hardwoods. It's a bit out of the way but they are local and will help you every step of the way.
Sanded down my Cypress beams in the back and then the front post and inlaid areas in the front. After wiping them down, then coming back over with cheesecloth, I painted two coats on heavy, with the 2nd coat going on while the first was still wet.
No poly overcoat either. With TWP it's unnecessary. It seals AND stains...and it beads every time it's exposed to water.
Very pleased

All clear sealers are made about identical, they don't last no matter what brand name two years tops I have had good results with Sherwin Williams transparent stain and sealer in one

Cabot semi-solid from Lowes is what I had good luck with on a playset we made 8 years ago. Needs a redcoat bad now but that is good performance in this climate.
They have a wide variety of colors and some of the grain does show. May get s color that comes close to the pergola wood.
The "solid" stains are basically paint. The semi-solid is kind of a cross between a stain and paint.
Hope this helps.

I know what NOT to use: Thompson's. That shite is worthless. I sealed a wooden picnic table with some that had a pigment in it....shite done cracked and peeled well enough that I could probably pull the rest off by hand without a sander. It only lasted a year.

Make sure its oil based and not water.

Wood RX is what we use for our pier and its been pretty damn good. You have to have some color though to protect from the UV.
Side benefit is you can order it from Home Depot in 2 gallon sprayers and just spray it on and then wipe with a deck pad. We do our pier once a year, but that is b/c of the saltwater.

i just built a new back patio deck. The guy that built it told me to grab Thomspon oak gold and i did.
After staining it... i would have prolly gone a different color. Its not terrible but more dark.
Is there anything i can do about it? Can restain it? If so, what is the process?
