Just noticed that Photobucket wants to start charging $399 a year to host images for third party sites. With all due respect, F that.

Where do you guys host images for free?

I was just on the Help Board looking up the same thing. It looks like the general consensus is Imgur.

I got that email from Photobucket about having to get a plan for 3rd party hosting and just figured I would go see how much it would cost. When I saw that they wanted $400/yr I almost fell off of my couch.

Wow that's a ballsy move, lots of tutorials and trip reports have used photobucket. Bet they are banking on people simply not wanting to move everything or not wanting to get their pics removed.

That place has been a cesspool of advertisements for a while now. I have a bunch of stuff on there, but I stopped adding new photos. I use flickr if it's actual decent photography. If it's just a snapshot of something, I generally add it to an album on facebook and link from there.

We should have an OB picture thread (sponsored by Imgur) in protest.

Flickr seems to be the most convenient from the end-user standpoint. And lots of photo software have 'upload to flickr' options built in, so there's that.

Sometimes I also use tinypic something...it seems pretty easy to do a 1-time upload, and your image link is clean. Flicker, depending on how you link the photos, tries to push an ad for their site, and a link to your album, in text next to your photo. I don't necessarily want my albums linked every time I post a photo in a forum.

Careful with flickr, they have a one-click option to push your uploads over to Facebook, which I still have despite not using it for much of anything.
I was uploading some firearm pics for a forum (S&W site), and got a Facebook notification on my phone, somebody liked my photos. I checked, and found my full album had been posted there! I guess my official stance has been exposed on that topic now

That's a big plus for my iPhone. Photobucket has given me all kinds of technical issues the past 9 mos or so w/o any technical support. Since I've been unable to solve my problems w/ Photobucket, I've been transitioning to Flickr. As far as I'm concerned, I now feel the same way about Photobucket as that character on "The Godfather:; Photobucket is "dead to me."
