Try essential credit union. Good time of the year to buy. You will find great deals at the boat shows.

My neighbor told me Bass Pro Shop finances the boats they sell. I don't have any personal experience dealing with them.

Do people actually finance for 20-30 years on these things? I mean, some cost the same as a brand new truck. I'd like a new bass boat, but can't see paying $300+ for the next 30 years.

I need to find a rich aunt or something

If your in a psoitiin of needing to finance (who isn't) a luxury like a boat, you should really look around and buy a nice used one and save several thousands of $

What boat are you looking at?

It depends on price just like a truck. They offer different terms (duration and interest) depending on the anount financed. Credit union in BR wouldn't offer me anything more than 8-10 years on the amount I wanted to finance

Credit union wouldnt give me a good enough rate so my FIL bought my boat outright and I paid him back in 2.5 years (interest free)

Chase bank doesn't do boat loans anymore, but when they did they were dirt cheap. Probably has something to do with it.

I searched around for the best rates and ended up with a local credit union around 5%.

It also depends on how much you are financing. At most places you'll be able to get better loan terms if you finance above 25,000.

May want to look at boat manufacturer or Yamaha, sometimes when you buy a packaged boat they have great loan terms - When I bought my WarEagle it had a 40h Honda tiller, I ended up financing through Honda they beat any bank term/rate.

Lightstream had the best rates when I purchased several months ago. Navy Fed and several local credit unions couldn't come close.
