Built-in amp (20 watts x 4 RMS/45 peak x 4 channels)

While nothing great, I stand corrected. Not a bad deal, if just need a little bit.

Just the headunit. Didnt see the point in having both. Seemed like a waste of $ but i could be wrong.

So does it have a unit too like a car CD player or just that circular deal

No, the entire unit fits in the gauge hole

I believe that unit must be hooked up to an amp. Not positive.

No, its a complete unit able to hook directly to speakers. It does have pre-amp outputs though if you want an amp for more power.

Have mine hooked up to four standard marine speakers, two facing out sideways and two in from rod lockers facing rear. Can hear great at mid volume while running.

That's pretty cool, I only have 2 speakers right now on each side of the console. I want to add 2 at the end of the rod boxes but not sure how to get the speaker wire fished to the console

Mine are also at end of rod boxes and console. Halfway up its clear at 35-40mph. Dnt kno how they ran it tho. Had it custom done. I have a pioneer amp and 4 JL 7.7 speakers. Sounds great!

How I originally set mine up, when I bought my boat didn't have any radio so installed speakers same way, problem is I couldnt install low in console due to way my rod holders were so the sound could bounce off gunnells so speakers push out into thin air and couldn't hear shite while running which is mainly when I want some tunes.

If your trolling motor batteries are in console disconnect from battery, tape two pairs of speaker wire and a piece of string to the end, then use trolling motor wire to pull speaker wires and rope to front. Once you have them hook trolling motor wire to rope and then pull back and re-hookup to battery. Depending on console layout may have to drill into rod lockers, mine were open towards bow so was able to run wire and secure to top inside of locker out of sight to the speakers facing rear.

Tbooux... Smart man... Lol. Yea basically snake it thru

ETA: the depth of ur speakers will also come into play here. Dont want to put ur rods in and have them constantly jamming into the back of ur speakers. Just chck depth but in most instances, you should be ok

I pretend to know what I'm doing from time to time.

Sonoma, Tried to grab you some screen shots from my Navionics card on my Lowrance this past weekend but couldn't get a pic with the glar with my iPhone and I think navionics has the screen shot feature of the HDS disabled. Will try and research some more and see if I can get you some.

Heres a couple screen shots of navionics app from my phone, map quality is nearly identical between phone and chip on my HDS. These are north end of sister lake where bayou jones empties out. Let me know if you want a specif area and I'll post them. If I remember correctly I can zoom in a little more on my HDS.

What kind of GPS are you using? I bought a used 24'Skeeter bay boat and installed a Lowrance HDS7 GPS. Once that was installed, I bought the Lowrance Sonic Hub to use as my radio. I did not bother installing the dock that came with it since it didn't fit my iphone 5. I ended up installing a USB port in my console storage to connect my iphone to while on the boat. am able to control everything through my GPS, so it is a non-issue. I installed the speakers on the side of my console. The system is loud and sounds great.
